Is Data ONTAP Based On UNIX? - A customer recently asked, "Is Data ONTAP based on UNIX?" Complicated question.

The first version of Data ONTAP borrowed lots of code from Berkeley Net/2 (one of the earliest open-sourcereleases of UNIX), including the TCP/IP stack, system boot code, anddevice drivers. Since then, we've borrowed liberally from otheropen-source UNIX releases. We wrote the command line interface fromscratch, but we designed it to look like UNIX, since our first marketwas UNIX system administrators. Clearly, ONTAP is related to UNIX.

简单的说：Data NTAP = Berkeley Net/2 + Open-source UNIX　ｒｅｌｅａｓｅ的Lib　＋　ＷＡＦＬ等ＮｅｔＡｐｐ自己的特性
还有一些区别于ＵＮＩＸ的地方，比如没有用户空间的概念等。

OnTAP GX 确实是基于FreeBSD的。上面的文章里面有写。

用freebsd另外一个好处就是不用遵循GPL
这样不用放出代码了

厉害，一直都没有研究过，只知道属于类Unix系统
