Team Leader Profile

The candidate must have successful experience leading a team of software developers in projects with aggressive schedules. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and must exercise them candidly. The candidate must have solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and be able to understand and follow the Midrange Software Development Process. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility, strong motivation, and excellent problem solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Act as primary interface to Columbia-based coordinator.
- Lead Columbia’s CRDC team.
- Clarify new feature requirements, design software to meet the requirements, and implement the design.
- Analyze issues encountered in the product and design, implement, and test fixes to address them.
- Interface with other developers and QA.
- Handle multiple problems and priorities.
- Write functional specification and design documents.
- Practice well-structured programming practices, unit testing & software documentation.
- Provide support for QA and documentation efforts.
- Mentor other developers.
Experience & Skills
- Team leadership and management
- Bachelors of Computer Science with 5+ years experience of software development. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have an understanding of object-oriented concepts and methodologies.
- Strong experience in Core Java. Some experience with Java Swing and/or C++ is a plus.
- Proficient at debugging applications interfacing with other systems, with multi-threaded algorithms.
- Familiar with networks, network management and system management.
- Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Networks) is a plus.
- Excellent communication & problem solving skills.
- Must be willing to travel to US on short trips (1-12 weeks) for training & project coordination.
